Sleeping puppy

amurphy Sep 28, 2008 04:49 PM

I just got a chihuahua about 3-4 weeks ago and he sleeps almost all the time. He will be 6 months old on 10/4/08. He hardly ever even plays with his toys. When I walk around the house a lot he will follow me, but he's just not very active. He was just treated for tapeworms 2 days ago, after I had noticed the worms in his stool. Does anyone know if this could have anything to do with him not having any energy, or if this is normal for a puppy his age?

I would imagine that the tapeworms would have an effect on his energy level. Did you ask the vet about that? Is your puppy eating well? It's normal for dogs to sleep a lot, but there is usually a lot of puppy energy too. Once the treatments for the tapeworm are complete, can you post again and let us know if your pup has more energy?
