Katie and Pansy, Kids being Kids

vinkamom Sep 30, 2008 05:22 PM

Yesterday afternoon Mama came over for coffee and Katie very nearly topped the ceiling fan communication! Mama came in the back door and was greeted by all four kids as usual. I said "Hi, I gotta finish changing the bed" and went back into the bedroom and left Harry and Mama were standing in the livingroom talking. Miss Katie walked up to Mama to get petted. Then, while she had Mama's undivided attention, Katie looked at the sofa, looked at Mama, looked back at the sofa, waited until Mama sat down and then got onto the sofa herself and lay down. Katie lets you know what she wants even if she doesn't speak English.

Today Harry washed bed and pillow covers and we added some more stuffing to the livingroom floor pillows. After all the pillows were back in place he realized his cell phone was missing. He wondered aloud about where the phone was and, before we even began looking, Pansy started rooting under the pillow she was standing by and came up with his phone. We aren't sure if she was removing a bump that would have annoyed her when she lay down or if she 'knew' that her Daddy's phone was under the pillow and wanted to get it for him. It doesn't matter which, the phone was found without searching everywhere Harry at been today with the phone in his shirt pocket(the vet's office, the shop, the back yard, the utility room, etc.).

One sure way to find a *missing* cell phone, if you don't have happen to have a *Pansy* in your home, is to call the phone. I have had to do this several times. I take the darn thing with me and place it in the most stupid places. And right now, it is with me always ... one never knows when one is going to get *the* phone call.

Our dogs are truly amazing! I have a Staffy Bull, Petey, and my neighbor and I both swear he knows what we are saying.

Of course he does! And I'll bet when he wants to he lets you know exactly what he means, too.

Dogs and cats come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.

This is such a greyt story. I could just picture the slight imatience Katie showed and Dad's face when he realized Pansy saved him hours of searching. There is no doubt in my mind that the pups knew exactly what was what. Wonderful and even a little scary, isn't it?

I think I missed the ceiling fan communication story. It isn't hard to figure out the gist of the story, though. I believe that Katie has always thought any problems communicating with us is because we aren't very smart.

I also think Richie won my heart because he not only looks like little Miss TT (even if he is the giant economy size) but also because he talks. Alot.

Now I just have to figure out how to turn him off. Just occasionally. For a little break. Just a little quiet...
