New kid!

Cissa Oct 01, 2008 02:02 PM

Hi everyone!

Just joined up and am looking forward to asking some questions and maybe even having a few of them answered.

We just got our very first bloodhound last Friday from the Humane Society. He is such a doll, we love him! We named him Byron, and he is about a year old. Actually, Byron is only half bloodhound, the other half of him is redbone coonhound, but his bloodhound genes are very strong - he has the long, squooshy face and sad eyes. He shares our home with the two of us, 3 cats and a basset hound /laborador retriever cross.

My grandparents bred labs, so I grew up with them and just in case no one else here knows, it takes labs a few years to grow up, mentally. So I guess my first question for you guys is; do bloodhounds also tend to be perpetual puppies, or is it just my guy? Or maybe it's a redbone thing? Byron's just such a doofus! Not that I'm complaining, we think he's a laugh-riot!

Anyway, thanks for having me, here!

Cissa

Bloodhounds do tend to keep some of their childish traits for longer times than most breeds. I think most of the larger hound dogs do. They have high energy levels and creative ways to deal with that.

Congrats on the new addition. Pictures are always fun to see if you have a spare moment.

Congrats! And yes, Bloodhounds are a slow maturing breed. It takes them a few years to grow up. Gotta love those faces!

Thanks! I figured that was the case. We do have photos, but I'll have to figure out how to post one. It looks like you have to load them online first? I've never been able to figure that out!

Hi and welcome to the DogHobbyist! I agree... picts of a Bloodhound pup will fun to look at! You would need to get the pictures on the web for posting. It's fairly easy to do here at the DogHobbyist. As a member here you have access to a free 10mb photo account. Simply click on the tab at the top of the page that says Photos and register for the free 10mb account. After that navigate to the member galleries as the Bloodhound doesn't have a sub category under Dogs. Follow the instructions and you should be good to go. If you have any questions please ask... we'll get those picts posted!

Hi and welcome! I'm sure you'll do just fine. Bob gives very good directions. In fact, I saved his directions should I need to pass them on to someone.

Cissa... once you have the pictures uploaded to the photo gallery there will be two ways to post them. The easiest way would be to look under the this message area when you are replying to a message. All of your images will be listed in the box that says photos. All you need to do is highlite one and click reply. You can do up to three photos by holding down your CTRL key and highliting 3 photos. The other way would be to copy the url that appears underneath the photo at the photo gallery. You copy as many urls as you want and post them. You would just have to add the img tags before and after the url. If you have any questions please post back with them and either I or someone will be along to help.
