I made a big score at the local thrift shop yesterday. They have some bins of stuffed toys, mostly kids' toys, for a quarter each. I was digging through, and found a few safe and dog-worthy things.

There, at the bottom of one bin, was . . . a screaming monkey! It is in perfect condition, including its screamer.

It is in the washing machine at the moment. I don't know if it will replace the current favorite toy -- the cackling slingshot-launch superhero chicken from Walgreens (see pics, below!) -- but, for a quarter, it's worth a try!

Wow, are your hounds going to be proud of you! Not just for finding a screaming monkey but for being brave enough to buy it!
I know you already know this, so it is just a reminder: be sure to pick it up before bedtime...it is verrrrrrrrry loud and startling when someone rolls over on in the middle of the night.

Oh, Mr. Monkey will be an outdoor toy (despite being white -- most of the outdoor toys are conveniently brown or gray, to show dirt less and not gross out the humans). He will be put in the outdoor toy bin with Superchicken, Mr. Rat, and other toys of great value.

Those are the kinds of *scores* that I love to find. Heck, who knows, maybe you will luck out and the *screamer* will be somewhat quieter after it's *bath*. And ... at least you only got one screaming monkey. The first time I got them (ordered them .. one for each of the four dogs.. Sadie, Luke, Jazz & Jessie) I opened up the box and gave each of the dogs their wonderful new toys. It was like a freaking jungle in here.. Monkeys screaming upstairs and down. One would scream and then two more from a different area of the house. At that time, Jazz was my stuffie *noise box* killer.. and he did just that... and peace and quiet reigned until *Mom* got another brilliant idea.

Well done you! Sounds like a lucky day. We have lots of Charity shops here where people donate stuff to be sold on behalf of one charity or another and they often have lovely soft baby toys which are ideal for dogs and dirt cheap. I did find a pink pig which grunted a while back and is Tru's favourite toy even though she has killed it and the grunt is gone now.

OMG, what fun! Lucky you found it. My girls LOVED the screaming monkey. Still have it even though the girls are gone.

Dogs and cats come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
