Dewey Beach report

gramaroo Oct 16, 2008 05:20 AM

Dewey was truly different this year. Not as many vendors, those that were were scattered all over the town (not that that is a bad thing). Not as many people or dogs. However, I enjoyed the time and had lots of people drop by the Roo House to visit. Saw Betty and Greg but missed Michael (too many bald guys ont the beach) LOL Got some great bargins. Met the lady that has Knuckles and will be doing Healing Touch on him for his wounds and legs. Took some raffle tickets but disappointed when I found it it was not to "win:" Knuckles. Saw a few greyhound puppy puppies. met many new/old puppies, one dying from the big "C" which I did HTA on for comfort. Had dinner "on the beach", that was a hoot. Missed all those that did not come to Dowee!!!!! Hope many more come next year. Already have my reservations! BTW..the Best Western has a few openings and is said to be cheaper than others. the SandPalace will have/did have openings but the owner puts the rights to bid on a room on E Bay....many people not staying there next year. Weather was perfect, Mr. Bill had a great time with only a few rough spots. All in all a wonderful vacation!

Thanks for the update. It sounds like the "old Dewey Beach"
where the vendors were in their hotel rooms, and sold their wares out of their rooms, from the back of their trucks, etc. I hated the big tents- it was too crowded and sometimes I felt like it was a safety hazzard.
Thanks again for the update- I love to hear the Dewey stories.

Helen, sounds like everyone had a wonderful time. Missed being there. Hopefully we'll get back up there again. Seemed strange not being on the road this past holiday weekend after traveling it so many times.

Sounds like you had a pretty hectic and useful Dewey. So glad the weather was good this year and added to everyone's enjoyment I am sure.

Good to hear that you both enjoyed your vacation. I missed going to Dewey and seeing everyone... this year was the first year in 9 years that we didn't get there, but, you know, I wasn't as heartbroken as I thought I would be. The biggest thing was not seeing people that I only see one time a year .... at Dewey ~ like Helen and Bill; Nancy, Sean & Amber; Kathy; Fran; Michael; Betty and Greg; Shellie; Beth; and Iris and Larry. That list sure has shrunk from the years that we used to go. But I do stil enjoy going.... and hope to again some year.
