Looking for some advice

jeffharding Dec 09, 2008 12:41 PM

I have a 7YO AmStaff named Shavo. He is a great dog. He's moved with me from Baltimore, MD to Los Angeles, CA no sweat. I've always lived with roommates, but recently I got my own place by the beach. Its a somewhat small place with white tile floors and a small back yard with a dog door to go between the two. THe back yard was sand, but I put grass in and a shed. With the sand, he used to track sand and dirt all over the white tile floor and clean up was a daily activity. With the grass, he has been tracking in dirt, grass, and whatever else. and the first place he goes in on the couch as soon as he comes inside. I put down area rugs, but I think he will just get them dirty too.

Does anyone have any tricks or advice to keep my place a little cleaner? Its winter time, so the grass isnt growing and he likes to tear it up with his back legs. Once the grass grows in thick, it should be better. Is there some kind of mat that works good for trapping dirt and mud?

THanks for the help

Try teaching him either to stand as soon as he comes in so you can wipe his feet, or try teaching him to wipe his feet on a mat (probably more difficult, but better).
