what are good day & nite temps? and good bulbs?

shortydsm Oct 10, 2003 04:01 PM

I am in the process of re-doing my lighting & am trying to figure out what some good bulbs are. Right now I have a night-glo 75 watt for nighttime & a zoo-med(?) basking spot lamp 75-watt for daytime, the warm side temp is around 90 with both of them on. However my nighttime temp (with just the night-glo bulb on) is still a bit high, should I downgrade to a 50-watt?

you dont need a uva spot bulb for the gecko's a plain house hold lamp bulb works just fine,i use 75watt bulbs and my temps are usually 85f and at night i use a black bulb and the temps are about 75-78f depending on how cold it is outside,i got a black bulb at wal-mart for one dollar(halloween season)and it works great and no its not a black light bulb just a bulb with black glass, very dim in color but puts out great heat so depending on tank size 60-75watt bulbs should work fine as i heat 2 40g breeders with a 75watt.
