Poll: Have you ever been to a dog show?

allactphoto Jan 25, 2009 11:42 AM

Three quick questions:

When at a local dog show, do you check out the vendors?

Have you ever purchased anything from a vendor?

Would you have your dogs portrait taken by a professional (not the
ring photographer) at a dog show(no sitting fee or obligation /$20 minimum package)?

Thanks for your time

>>When at a local dog show, do you check out the vendors?
-Always

>>Have you ever purchased anything from a vendor?
-Typically yes

>>Would you have your dogs portrait taken by a professional (not the ring photographer) at a dog show(no sitting fee or obligation /$20 minimum package)?
-Not sure. Most shows I go to have contacts with the ring photographer that would conflict with what you propose. Also, the ring photographers sometimes do basic portrait shots if you catch them between rings. Depends on how large the show is if the ring photographer would allow such a thing.

Yes, I always check out the vendors...especially the ones that I haven't seen before. I have also made purchases from different vendors and also have made repeat purchases when I run into them again. As for the photograph... I really don't know how that would work. The ring photogs are probably under contract and wouldn't want the competition. I know the breeders would probably go for it as most seem to complain about the quality of shots being taken as the photog must rush between rings and deal with uncooperative dogs.

I've never been to one, but I love watching the National Dog Show every Thanksgiving - did anyone else tune in this year?

I got to see a part of it this year. Won't be long and we will have Westminster and Crufts to watch and enjoy. If you ever get a chance to go to a show... you should... it's a great experience.
