Drooling

dieselkari Jan 27, 2009 10:04 AM

My family is very interested in puchasing a Saint pup. We have always wanted one, and now our kids are big enough to handle the size. Okay, so I know they drool. I do keep a clean house and do not mind mopping floors of drool. However, I have heard stories of drool all over the ceiling! I cannot paint the ceiling everyday and I would not like the look of that. Is this accurate or an exaggeration? Bottom line...if you want to provide a good home to a Saint Bernard, do you have to learn to live with drool on the ceiling?
Thanks for any help from Saint owners and lovers!
Kari

I don't personally live with a St. Bernard, but a good friend of mine has one. He actually doesn't drool as much as I have been led to believe. Now, after he's had a good long drink, I'd say watch out for the inevitable shake that follows and sends water everywhere. I would recommend going to a dog show and finding breeders and asking them how they handle the drooling mess. There are some very creative methods out there that the pros have come up with.

We have a saying in "Saint Bernard circles".
"Drool is Cool"!
If the thought of living with a slobbering lover boy or girl is distasteful, with all respect, you may want to consider a different breed.
