Kelp for nose pigment

sfemz Jan 31, 2009 02:04 AM

I have a 20# Westie that has what I believe is snow nose. Her nose has faded and gets even lighter in winter. I have heard that kelp would darken nose pigments. Would it be okay to give her human kelp supplements? What dosage of kelp would be appropriate for her size? I am currently giving her sodium ascorbate to help with beard staining, although, I can't say that it has helped any.

Try 1/4 of the recommended human dose of kelp, although I have not heard that it would help a lack of pigmentation. As to staining, any body fluids in contact with white hair over a long period of time will stain the hair brown. If the dog is salivating excessively, you might give homeopathic Mercurius solubilis 30c once daily for a week to see if the salivation stops.
