ACE inhibitors canine

mjens Feb 11, 2009 05:07 PM

What is your opinion of the use of ace inhibitors to protect the kidneys in early chronic renal failure?

I would be much happier using diet and herbs to lower her BUN (60) and creatinine (1.9, normal range 05 - 1.8) levels since she is asymptomatic, has a uspq of 1.042 and all other blood values are normal. Her internist however thinks she should start treatment immediately.

Also she has a history of mast cell disease and a kidney diet seems at odds with the no grains diet I've been feeding her.

Any advice you could give on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

Some of the things you can do to protect the kidneys are to feed raw beef kidneys, add CoQ10 and omega 3 fatty acids, NAC and DHEA, as well as chinese herbal formulas suchas Rehmannia six.
