Bad news

Hi everyone, this is my first post in the dog forums on this site and unforunately it's not a good post..My Yorkshire Terrier named Brandy just died on Saturday..She was 13 years old and died from an enlarged heart/complications..Her and my mom were extremely close and it does get even sadder because Saturday was my mom's birthday..She had put Brandy in her bed since she was having major problems this last week(but was a lot better in past weeks) and after she had gotten out the shower Brandy wasn't breathing anymore..I've been really depressed since Saturday..She was a really strong dog for only being 5-6 lbs and fought till the end..My mom thinks she hung in there till her birthday so she could see her one last time/morning..

One other thing about her was that she lived with 2 labs, one that passed away in 07 and another that is 2 years old now and she ruled the house..

Ruling the house does sound like a Yorkie! I'm so sorry for your loss and your mother's loss. Are you considering getting another Yorkie?

I'm very sorry to read of your loss. It's never easy to say goodbye to an old friend. I had a Yorkie some years ago along with a Springer mix and true to the Terrier nature he too was the boss. Hopefully one day soon you adopt another Yorkie... they really are terrific little dogs.

Thanks for the reponses..We have no idea if we're going to get another dog anytime soon or not..Our lab is keeping my parents company while I'm away at school(an hour away)..We do want another dog but it is hard to imagine getting another Yorkie after Brandy..She was definitely a very unique dog..We'll have to talk about it I think..I really wish I could have seen her one more time..

It may be best to just stay with the Lab for now, since that dog is keeping your parents company. Dogs change some when one goes, and that dog could really blossom.

I think you're right..It's sad but he has witnessed both of our other dogs we had when we first got him die..He didn't know our lab too well but he and our yorkshire terrier were starting to become more of friends..Our yorkshire terrier hated him when all he wanted to do was jump around and play..She started to become friends with him once he settled down though..Only time will tell what we'll do as far as another dog..
