Nancy (I think on here she is "Corby's Mom" but most of us know her as "Izzyin"
needs some prayers and white light for her Mom.
This is what she wrote on 02/14
So, my Mom had knee replacement surgery on Friday (the 13th!).
Everything went really well and we were able to see her a few hours later in recovery. She was in no pain and was eating and drinking.
We were amazed! She got a room a little later so we trotted up to her room to make sure she was settled in. Within a few minutes, the physical therapist was there. My Mom walked - and walked really well - within 7 hours of the end of the operation! My Dad was satisfied that she was okay, so I took him out for dinner and then brought him home. He was exhausted with worry, poor guy.
Very early this morning, my Mom's blood pressure dropped to 40/20. It took a bit of time to stabilize her. Her blood pressure is still dangerously low, but it's better. She's getting transfusions now.
She's in a serious situation right now, so please keep her in your thoughts.
My Mom loves my Dad, there's absolutely no doubt about that. But my Dad ADORES my Mom. If anything happens to her, I will most decidedly lose them both. My Dad will die of a broken heart. Not ready for that at all.
Then three days later this was the update.
02/17 Rough weekend, so I haven't been able to post all that much. She's doing better and is now in a rehab faciilty (Lucy, she's in Wellington Hall on Union St in Hackensack). She hasn't eaten since Thursday, though, so she feels nauseous every time she gets pain meds. I brought pecan sandies to get her revved up a little since they're her favorite cookies.
Calcium and potassium levels are very low - surprising since she got 3 pints of blood! They're working on getting those levels up. Maybe she'll be hungry once her blood is at the right levels. We'll see.
The last and latest report was:
02/20 She's not doing well. She went back to Hackensack Medical Center Wednesday night as an emergency. Apparently, the rehab hospital she was in wasn't keeping her blood thinner levels high enough, so developed DVT. One clot is near the femoral artery. She has numerous clots in her lungs. She could barely breathe and her bp was 200/100. I thought she was gonna explode!
Here's what pisses me off the most. We have a family full of blood thinner takers, so we're not novices. They told us her pro time was 3.2 at the rehab hospital. It took my sister 6 weeks to get to that level. The pulmonary specialist told us her pro time was 1, which indicated to him that she was given absolutely no blood thinners at the rehab hospital. He was LIVID with them. They lied and endangered her.
She'll be going to Kessler Institute when she gets out of the
hospital, but we're not sure when that will be. This snafu has
caused a lot of other little problems, the most serious being that my Mom does NOT trust any of the doctors anymore. I can't blame her.
I'll be giving her Lovenox shots twice a day when she gets home,
too.
Not going to work for the rest of the week. My Dad's hearing isn't good and she definitely needs someone to asked questions and advocate for her.
