I caught a 4 and a half foot "racer" today. It was curled up under a rock at a wildlife park. It has an all black top, white under its head and all blue/gray under the snake. It also has a pretty narrow head, and is slender. I was wondering, if it is a racer, what should i feed it? And what size cage, what kind of substrate? And another thing, i read that they ate mice, how can they eat mice without being constrictors?

but from the description you gave it could be a racer. Was it aggressive and bitey? Most racers are, everyonce in a while you will come across one that is pretty mellow, but that is far and few between.

Dont feed it live mice, feed it either freshley killed or frozen/thawed. Live mice can kill a snake, at least leave nasty wounds that can get infected.

Post a pic if you can and we can get a positive id on it for you. What state are you from would also help as there are a couple of different types of racers it could be.

Good luck and Happy herping

I live in Connecticut, and it wasnt really bitey when i got it, i found it under a big rock at about 5:00 and just lightly grabbed it about an inch or so behind the head, it didnt musk or try to get away much. I haven't held it sense, it struck at me once thruogh the cage, but ever snake i have caughten did that too. So i should feed it a full grown frozen mouse? I've never had success feeding a wild snake dead prey, any suggestions?

If it is a racer then it would feed on; other snakes, lizards, nestling birds and "small" rodents. In nature they normaly just bite and swallow which works ok if you have pinkie to fuzzy mice. A larger rodent would be a dangerous meal and that is why a lot of wild snakes actualy die or are captured with the scars recieved from their victims as well as their attackers.

If it is a black racer, and you took it from a wildlife park in Connecticut, you should bring it back and release it. I'm pretty sure that black racers are threatened or endangered in all New England states (I'm from Maine), and it's listed on the Connecticut D.E.P. website I've linked to.
