cutaneous tumor

gardenofeaton Feb 23, 2009 09:05 AM

My ex-wife's dog has what her vet has described as a cutaneous tumor. The black lab mix, has a bump on his back toe which has opened. They want to amputate, at a cost higher than she can afford, and they are unwilling to work with her on the cost. I would like to try a drawing bloodroot salve, but the skin is broken and you can see the tissue. Would this be safe?. The non-hollistic vet has given him anti-biotics for the infection. Can this be treated? or will the amputation be of need? Thanx in advance for any advise here. Have also considered astralagus internally. Sincerely, Chris

I would suggest trying the bloodroot salve. Being an open wound doesn't make a difference. You will probably want to bandage the area for the 12 hours the salve is on, and for a while afterwards, until the wound heals. Amputation should be a last step, not a first.

Sorry to bother you again, thanx so much for responding. It's ok then to put the salve right into the wound of the tumor?..or just around the tumor where its not open ?....Sincerely, Chris

It is okay to put the salve on the open wound.
