Abby has been lookin a lot of hair and is balding, when she gets woulds they take a very long time to heal. The vet suggested a T4. Hers came back .6 and he said normal is 1 - 4. He suggests we put her on celaxine which is a synthetic thyroid. Does this sound right to you?

Della, The 0.6 reading is in the normal range for Greys, below .5 T-4 is considered a low thyroid reading. If there were no other symtoms then I would say not to medicate but if there is then try the meds and see if they make a difference

My Bandit was on syntroid for many years. He had greyhound alopecia. The dosage varies with the number value of the T4 it can either increase or decrease but usually increases.
