new puppy!

teaspoon Mar 04, 2009 12:24 PM

I just adopted a puppy yesterday, my first dog ever. She's about four months and 18 lbs with big feet and long legs. I'm not sure what breed she is. Any guesses how big she'll get? The rescue said she's a border collie mix, vet says she looks a little like great pyrenees, my boss(I work at a kennel) says she looks like a english pointer. She's got long soft fur and is patterned like a pointer, Several big black spots and then so many tiny little dots that she looks grey. Her tail is long and curls back over her back when she's excited. I'd be interested to know what breed you'all think she is and how big she'll get. I'll see if I can post pictures in a couple days. I've named her Jezebel (Jezzie) and she's the cutest puppy in the world! (pretty smart and well behaved too)

Congrats on your new puppy! The pictures will help when you get them posted. The color markings could be Border Collie or even Australian Shephard. With the big feet and long legs the other mix must be a bigger dog.

Really hard to tell the mix of a dog on description alone and at that age, it's difficult even with a picture. If it's incredibly important to you to know, there's a DNA test that can easily be done. The results will get you some isea.

I don't really care that much about what it is, I just thought that it would be interesting to know what other people think she is. I think she looks a lot like a pointer, especially with her hair cut short(she had been shaved when she was treated for mange)but it will be interesting to see how much differently she looks when her hair grows back. Even more, I'm wondering how big she'll get.
