More updates... how about yours?

With all that goes on with Beni it's easy to forget the other two dogs... and the cat. Here are some additional updates.

Keiko you may remember had some issues with his thyroid gland. He was diagnosed as being hypothyroid. Before the diagnosis he had become lethargic to the point where he couldn't even finish a short walk around the block. He had also gained weight and before the medication he weighed 36 pounds. One and a half years later through medication and diet he now weighs 25 pounds and is back to being a bundle of energy...this in spite of his bad hips. Now with the weight loss his thyroid dosage has been reduced and I still continue to use the Cosequin DS.

Toshi for the most part remains to be the healthy one. Her only issues are her continuing allergies during the spring and summer months and an occassional cut on a pad during the winter.

Boo the cat is still hanging in there with his cancer though he too has lost some weight over the past year. He is going to be 16 this year and I have already made the decision that I won't use a chemo protocol on him. The cancer has been held in check for almost 2 years using prednisone only and that will be all that I will use. He is still active and feisty and as long as he is I'm not changing anything. He too has a thyroid condition but he is hyperthyroid and that complicates things as far as meds or any possible surgeries.

Well that about brings everyone up to date. I do have some new pictures to upload so I'll have to get on that.

It truly is amazing that Beni is doing so well! Glad to hear Toshi and Keiko are enjoying good health too.

I had wondered how Boo was getting along...sounds like he has 9 lives

Everything is fine here except next week the temps will be 15 degrees below normal and probably more snow...but when it all thaws we will have MUD. We have had some thawing this week and have to keep a dry mop in the closet by the door to mop where the dogs track in. Those water hog rugs are worthless. Next year I plan to buy cotton rugs.

Nothing really going on with my guys. They are all being good and in good health. We did have to start Kiko on a mild short cource of pred for some allergies but that is it.

Well, I guess I'd better surface too! I've been lax in replys lately, but do have an excuse. We've just finished painting the entire inside of our house! We've worked really hard, but it sure looks great! Murphy has been less than impressed by the upheaval, but doesn't mind too much, when it's not the bedroom involved. LOL

Bob, so glad for the good report on Beni. I always wait for those, each month.

Dave, I'm happy to hear everyone is being good and is well. Did Kaia have any more problems, or has medication done the trick?

I hope everyone else will post soon. I miss hearing about the babies and little ones, as well as the shibas.
