Our little Amelia Bug has suffered a stroke and is dying. We took her to the vet yesterday and they gave her meds etc.. She was no better this morning so back to the vets she went. The vet was hoping for improvement this morning but she had gone downhill. It is only a matter of time before she passes. Eloise will not let me put her down so she is home and getting shots to make her comfortable until the inevitable. She will sleep her life away. I can't stop crying as she has been my life keeping her alive since we got her. Please pray that God takes her soon as I hate to see her just sleeping away. I feel so bad.

Oh Gary, I'm so sorry to hear this. I remember when Amelia came into your life and know how much you and Eloise loved her. You can take some comfort in knowing that her last years were wonderful years. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Mary Lou,

Although we have had her for only 15 months she wrapped us around her little heart. We knew when we got her at her advanced age that this day would come sooner or later but that doesn't make it any easier. She is asleep in her little bed with her blanket over her to keep her warm. She did wake up for a few minutes and got a drink of water. I think I have convinced Eloise that it is in Amelia's best interest to end her suffering and send her to the bridge. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Gary, it's a very difficult decision to make. I know it was for me when I had to put my sixteen year old beagle, Chipper down. I think Eloise will know when the time comes as well.
