It is with great pride and a humbling sense of wonder that I present my new CPE agility champion Taiko!
Last weekend I travelled with a friend to a CPE agility trial in IL. When Taiko was injured oh so many months ago, we needed 2 qualifying runs to finish our championship title. A pursuit that started over 3 years ago and took more than 100 qualifying runs to get to. I went on this trip with my friend as a way to get our feet wet in the agility game running Taiko "at speed." He's slower in class than in shows and I really wanted to test out his "new legs" in a low stress atmosphere. I entered the 2 classes we needed hoping for the best, but realizing the odds of us finishing his title were slim at best. He'd been doing fine in class- as if he'd never taken any time off. Me though- my timing was bad and we weren't as in sync as I'm used to. Thankfully, Taiko didn't care and all he felt like doing was running. Thankfully as well, the courses were very "Taiko friendly" and worked to our strengths and not our weaknesses. I am so happy he qualified on those runs, but I'm even more estatic that we are able to run agility together again. Words can never describe the feeling of running an agility course at full speed with a dog grinning happily through the course. So, here I introduce: CPE Agility Champion Taiko!
