Are dogs supposed to have..split ends?

ZeusyGoosey Mar 19, 2009 01:23 PM

Zeus is groomed at the PetSmart and she used the Furminator on him. Now I noticed part of his hair cut off and on that part only they are all severely split. Isn't that kind of odd for a dog to have split ends and could the Furminator be the cause of that because it ripped out the top part of the hair? What could you possibly do about that? He's going back on Saturday for another bath. Should I tell her not to use one on him again? Has anyone else had this experience with the Furminator?? Thanks in advance.

Hi! Not sure if this is the right forum for this question but as a user of the Furminator for over 5 years I can tell you that the Furminator would not cause split ends unless maybe the groomer used it on Zeus while his coat was still wet. The Furminator is designed to use on a dry coat and grabs the loose hairs of the undercoat while it leaves the topcoat alone. As I mentioned above I've used it for over 5 years on my three Shiba Inus who are notorious shedders and it has not damaged their fur in anyway.
