what kind of wood to use for home-made enclosure?

shortydsm Oct 10, 2003 05:10 PM

I am in the process of figuring out how to make a home-made viv for Dragon, who is quickly outgrowing his 55 gal tank. I am just not sure what kind of wood I should use or even what kind of wood they normally sell you at Home Depot? Or what about how thick the pieces (for the sides) should be? This is going to be some project!

i used the cheap old plywood for mine, which i coated with water based polyurethane, however, the top sagged from its own weight, and if i had to do it over i would use the real thick plywood, it will also hold a nice stain(before polyurethaning), then i did the fake rock background and i get tons of compliments, anyhoo, hope this helps, hard woods are the best, but they are pricey, and heavy, keelsey
