What is it with people?? Tomorrow morning Janie and I are driving down to Hattisburg, MS to get a grey out of a shelter. The little girl is reported to be 11 yr old. Don't know what group she was adopted from but we are taking her. She will going to a foster home about 40 miles from us in the other direction. It will end up about 250 miles of driving.

This girl hasn't been on heartworm meds for over 4 years but did check negative for them. They are not sure even the last time she went to a vet. She has some weakness in the back end. For the last few years she was bounced around to different family members before they turned her in. The shelter lady that I talked to today said she is just as sweet as can be. BTW, her name is Willow.

Talking with our director, there has been 4 over 10 yr olds turned back into the group in the last 2 months and a lot of younger ones returned. I know this is the 5th or 6th return that Janie and I have picked up. I don't understand!!!!!!!

Hope all goes well with the rescue of this little one and she finds a place to call home for the rest of her days. The recession is hitting hard over here too and hounds are being returned more at the moment.

I don't understand either, but it happens all the time. Some people think of their pets are just property and the pets have no feelings.

I work with rescue groups on a limited basis and have heard more than once "Well they are getting older and the expense of keeping them healthy is a burden on the family" At 10 plus years figure they time is almost up and don't want to deal with that.

Thanks to good people like you they do have a chance!!!

Harry,
Not sure if it is really a reason, or if it is an *excuse*, but I have seen a lot of returns due to economic reasons. But, the thing that makes me wonder about the *reason* is that most of the dogs that are returned due to the economy are senior dogs. Makes one wonder.

Thank you Harry to going to get her. I never can understand why people do what they do. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Dogs and cats come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
