I have an aunt that lives nearby that has been considering getting a dog for some time. They know Bella and love her. I checked with her and she was very interested in helping out. But, I got a reply back from Bella's new owners and they already found someone through a rescue group that is going to foster her for the 6 mos (and there will be no other dogs there). I didn't put anything in the contract about a situation like this, just if she was going to give up her ownership of Bella (sell or give away) that I would need to be contacted first and I had the right to take her back. Her new people really are nice, and the mom is a vet tech, so I'm sure she found a good foster. It just makes me so sad. My poor Bells can't catch a break.
Lisha--I agree about limiting the amount of change. I have to say, though, as unfortunate as it is, Bella is the best adjuster. She has adapted immediately to every new situation and isn't a nervous Shiba (thankfully!) and always just wants to play and cuddle with whatever people she's with. Thank goodness for that. A less confident dog would be extremely neurotic by now.
