Three years

Grhndad Mar 26, 2009 11:10 AM

Three years ago today, we as a greyhound family lost a most loved member, our beloved friend Jilli. At times it feels like only yesterday and others it feels like forever. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Thinking of something that one of the kids have done and especially Miss Lexie and wonder what she would think of this little girl and of course I miss that "Michigan" accent. )

I did talk to Peter last evening and he is doing well. Waiting for spring to break and looking forward to Lindsey visiting in July.

if you would please keep Peter, Edgar and the girls in your thoughts today.

I, too, think of Jilli often. Our long talks on the phone, her love of my Lukie (who, BTW, would go to NO ONE but me and NEVER out of my sight, and yet pranced off for a walk in the woods with Jilli.. he knew that she was a very special *soul*) and her advise and humor. Oh yes.. her very special "California / Michigan" accent. I remember sitting in our room at Cherry Hill and her having to slow down when she saw the look on Butch's face. Of course, she laughed first. Peter, the girls and Edgar will be in my thoughts more than usual today. I am glad that you have kept in touch with Peter. He is also a very special person with a wonderful sense of humor.

Three years already.....how time does fly! Glad to hear that Peter is getting along OK though. I always felt close to Jilli as you know she came from the town where I too was born and grew up. I think of her often and hope she knows that she will never be forgotten by her grey buddies.

Thank you Harry. 3 years?? is that all? I feel like she has been gone for 10 or 15.. it feels like forever... and that is just because I miss her so.

Wow!! Those 3 years have gone by quickly! I talked with Kay earlier this week (Mmallo0326) who received a letter from Peter. He and Edgar are doing just fine. Peter says Edgar is great company to him, and that Edgar finally has bed privileges.

I remember the day I first met my Lilly. I had recently lost my first grey, Lexi, and had gone to a new group's annual greyhound picnic to meet a grey that needed a home desperately, after being bounced at least 7 times. While on our walk together, I met Jilli, who described Lilly's ears as a "little bonnet" on top of her head because they meet in the middle when she is curious about something. I cannot look at Lilly's ears without thinking of Jilli.

Such wonderful memories!

Adopting one greyhound will not change the world, but the world will change for that one greyhound.
