Kay's Vet Visit

poppynem Mar 28, 2009 04:46 PM

I took Kay to the vet this morning. She has been limping and having problems getting up and down since Tuesday. Naturally the first thing I suspected was osteo.

You can imagine my greyt relief diagnosed it as artritis. She took an x-ray and showed me the deterioration in the hip.

She will be on Previcox for the rest of her life and I suspect her traveling days are over. Any Greyhound gatherings I go to in the future will be without Kay and Jitterbug (Cpt. Whineypants has never been a good traveler).

I have been sleeping on the sofa or living room floor all week because I am afraid of Kay trying to jump on my bed. I'll be able to sleep in my bed again when Dorothy comes over and helps me take the mattress and springs off the frame.

Michael,
What a relief to hear that Kay has arthritis and not osteo. Jazzy has arthritis in his right rear leg and in his back. When he gets bad, he is on pain meds, but the rest of the time he is on glucosamine and Helen's healing touch. I hope that Kay is feeling better... Dakota is also relieved that the lovely Kay isn't suffering from osteo.

Michael, I'm so glad that Kay has arthritis and not any form of cancer. Maybe after the meds start working you won't need to lower the bed for her.

Sorry to hear of the arthritis, but glad it isn't worse. We did acupunture for years with Kira. Helped alot for the pain.

Just had a thought.. maybe not a good one, but hey... a thought is a thought. anyway.. would Kay to a step to get onto and off of your bed? It might be easier than putting your mattress and box springs on the floor. If you haven't already done that, when you do... on your first morning out of bed, be careful of your ankles. I about stoved my legs being used to being a good deal higher. But then, I am not know for my *grace*.

Michael.. Arthritis is a lovely word to hear..when a Greyhound starts to limp..you always have terrible fear in your gut..so when the Vet says "arthritis" you do a big happy dance..give your girl as big kiss from me
