Are the dotted lines on the 11" heat type to show you each foot or is it also where you have to cut it?? Or can a cut be made anywhere??

You can cut the heat tape any place.

NO NO NO you dont want to cut it anywhere. On the 11" there is a section where you can cut. This section marks off each foot. This cutting section has no conductive materials on the inside.

Hmm new to me. always worked fine for me....

cut on the doted line. the 3 inch you can cut to any size but the larger sizes must be cut on the lines 12 inches apart if you cut anywhere else I really think you are running a fire hazard. Jason
