Terminal Illness Death

colorfulcritters Apr 01, 2009 03:13 AM

She died today, my old schnauzzer. Thing is, I wonder at my attempts to save her and ask if anyone here recognizes these symptoms before a dog dies.

Her stomach was pumpim fast, her breath, wheezing. She wouldn't eat anymore, couldn't sleep. This much I know.

A vet had told me long ago she had liver/heart problems. Would've cost me thousands to prolong the inevitable, so I doubted the vet for a while and she'd lasted over a year and a half.

Today, found her dead on the kitchen floor. Her heart gave out, likd the vet had said would happen. Could I've prolonged it, maybe given her a cure? She was over 14 years, and I'd just thought let nature take its course.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's very hard to lose a fur friend.

As for your question- no one has the ability to tell you what the alternate path would have been for this dog. In the end, I'm sure you did what you thought was best and that's really all that matters.
