Once more into the vets dear friends...

Ragsysmum Apr 16, 2009 05:09 AM

I can't believe it!! Sonny has just recovered from the corn removal on his right front foot and now just this morning he has sprained, dislocated or broken the outside toe on his left front foot. This poor hound is just unlucky I reckon as he wasn't even doing anything 'risky' at the time. I watched him trot across the garden to cock his leg on his favourite shrub and the next minute he was hopping back to me on three legs with this toe sticking out oddly. He must have put his foot down awkwardly on a bit of uneven ground is all I can think. So it's up at the vets again to see what the procedure is now. At least this time they won't suggest he goes on special diet food surely!! Poor Sonny Sunshine.....the sun isn't shining much for him lately. Please keep my sweet boy in your mind and sending healing thoughts his way.

Oh Sue! Sure hope our Sonny sunhine finds the right ray beam soon. Praying this is just a minor injury and he is back sure footed soon.

Sue, healing thoughts on the way. Your description of Sonny's injury sounds very much like what happened to Bea last spring. She was in the back yard and came in with her rear leg in the air. She had dislocated her toe and was in a splint for a month and then had her foot wrapped for another month. Dr. Berryhill said actually breaking the toe would have healed more easily because a dislocation damages the ligaments and tendons which take longer to heal and strengthen. Bea is fine now...she ran in the "Fun Run" last month during a Greyhound Event for Retired hounds in Florida and was clocked at 35 miles per hour.

aawwwwwwwwwwwww, Poor Sonny. He sounds like my Jazzy when he was younger. Such a love.. a happy boy and a real sweetheart (still is for that matter) but accident prone... an accident waiting to happen. I hope that it is an easy fix for Sonny and that he isn't having any discomfort.

Oh Sue...Poor sweet Sonny. With all the sore toes Bayou has had we understand his pain. We will be sending healing thoughts his way from sunny Florida. Hopefully, he'll soon be running around the garden without any pain.
