Busy...busy

Skaket Apr 16, 2009 08:34 AM

I've been watching a male robin building a nest in an evergreen bush next to my window the last few days. It's really shaping up nicely. I haven't seen any female though. Guess she's waiting until the nest is complete. He's been real busy this morning.

I love watching the birds as well....we changed seeds and now I haven't seen any of the colorful buntings, but we do have a wide variety of birds, just waiting for my annual hummers which should be here anyday......syrup feeder is up.....

I haven't seen any humming birds here in CT, Denice but use to get a load of them at the Cape. I even had a special humming bird feeder. Their little wings moved so fast you clould hardly see them. Here's a picture of one feeding.

They're facinating to watch when they're feeding, Phyl. They move those wings so fast they actually stay in one spot.

Next time you clip Katie, save a little of her fur and put it outside. Some birds use it for nesting.

One smart Lady Robin. She knows not to move in until it is finished or it won't ever get done after the kids arrive. LOL

Ooooo, I never thought of putting some of Katie's hair outside for the birds to use, Cheryl. I think I'll open this window and throw a few clumps of Katie's hair out on the bush and see if he takes some of it for the nest.

I haven't seen papa Robin today. Perhaps he's finished or taking a day off. LOL

They are fun to watch. Guess the housing crunch has't hurt them.

Guess not, Gary. They don't have to worry about getting a loan to buy a house....they just build their own. LOL
