my project

This is what I've been busy with lately (also what gave me the poison oak) We put down the mulch yesterday. I want to add to the left side and make a point to that tree (That is where all the animals are buried.) and then match the back with a walkway between.
After that, we will have to clean out the pond and fix the stones that surround it (one fell in over the winter) I wish I could get it cleaned without emptying it but that seems to be the only way. Want to do it before the tadpoles hatch. I hate sucking them out. I see baby fish in there too.
My waterfall was leaking last year but I think the rocks moved over the winter and settled in the right way because the water level hasn't gone done much. Yea! Now that was hard to do... moving around large flat rocks so that they not only didn't leak but looked nice as well. Sometimes the water would flow behind the rocks instead of over the front. Very frustrating.

Now I'm debating on whether to dehorn my goats or wait for my husband's help. He gets upset with it but it really is easier to do with someone there. And I want to tattoo at the same time this year so I will really need an extra hand. Sigh.. I guess I answered my own question. I only wish I had someone else who could help me.

Lovely picture, Dee. Glad I don't have to gather up all those leaves when they fall.

Actually Mary Lou, most of the leaves blow off downhill into the woods by themselves

That's great, Dee. All of mine just seem to fall to the ground and stay there until I remove them. LOL

Wow, it sounds like you're going to be one busy gal, Dee. If I were close by, I would help you. I'm not crazy about doing things inside the house but love to work outside. Take your time if you can and don't try and finish everything yesterday. LOL

Well, dehorned the goats today. I waited for my husband but seems I could have done it on my own. He really gets upset by it. I know it needs to be done and just do it.
I also tattooed their ears. Unfortunately, there is only room for 5 digits on the tool I use and my ID number is 6 digits long so I have to punch one ear twice and the other ear is year and number so I do that once.

I forgot to wear old clothes so I got green tattoo ink all over my good jeans... and my hands but that came off. Oops, little still under my nails.

That last doe is crossing her legs so she can drive me crazy.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of hard work, Dee. You had better give yourself a few days off.

My allergies were so bad last night I couldn't breath. Then I remembered that I shaved the little goaties heads before dehorning....shaved goat hair effects my allergies big time.

No, no, no time for rest, gonna rain tomorrow and I want to put out more mulch. In the front yard this time. My husband was suppose to take the blade off the ATV so I could use it but he didnt so I'm gonna have to hoof it with the wheelbarrow. Sigh...

I call three different people today about the goats. One woman talks to me like she is definitely taking two goats but I need to know for sure, maybe get a deposit. Another woman wants two but isn't getting along with her husband so she doesn't want to bring something new in. Can't blame her but I know she would be a good home. Last person is coming later, not to really look at the goats as much as look at the sheds I've built. Once they see those cute little goatie babies running around, they will be hooked. he he he

Well. Dee hopefully you'll be able to find a little time down the road for yourself. Having allergies isn't helping the situation any. I'm sure the little goats will be on their best behavior for those looking at them. LOL

Thanks Mary Lou.

One woman came with her daughter and friend. She told her daughter "these are the goats Dee is holding for us until we are ready" Huhh??? I'll have to talk to her because I can't hold them forever especially since I'm paying for their food. The daughter wanted the little babies.... and Ayla!

Another woman came this morning and is definitely taking two goats with their kids. We are still waiting for that one doe to have hers. I think she has her legs crossed to drive me crazy. She also has a tree on her fence that she is trying to cut off herself because she doesn't want her husband to know she is getting goats. Sounds like me.. hee hee

Oh sheesh, Dee...I wonder when she expects to be ready. I'm sure you told her that Ayla was NOT for sale!!!!

She will HAVE to be ready the closer I come to running out of food or lose the opportunity. They just bought their place and it really does need alot of work. Fencing is most important because they are on a busy street. She asked me what I will do now and if I was staying in this house. I told her I would love to move someplace where there are only three seasons. She kept telling me how nice and quiet it was... my own little Eden. I could see her mind moving that she would have loved to have gotten my place.
She works alot too. I've always wanted to be closer to her but she is always busy.

Of course Ayla isn't for sale!!! Her daughter just thought she was the cutest thing. Which we know she is. She was taken aback when she snorted thinking she was growling. She snorts alot.

I hear what you're saying, Dee...especially about the seasons. I can't remember having as much rain as we've had this April. I guess I should be thankful that it's not snow but feel badly for those near the many rivers and streams that we have. Each time I open the door to take Katie out she turns around and looks at me as if to say, "You want me to go out in that rain AGAIN?" I keep telling her that I'm not exactly thrilled about going out in it either.
