Dosage for Glucosamine & Chondroitin

ZeusyGoosey May 03, 2009 04:17 PM

What's the dosage for an adult male dog around 100 pounds? And is it safe to give him a human glucosamine & chondroitin supplement?? I started him on kelp, alfalfa, probiotics, and fish oil supplements. He seems to be itching more and biting at his skin. Not sure why. But he's been limping on his left leg for 3-4 days now. I just want to get him on something that could help. Thanks in advance.

Glucosamine and chondroiten sulfate (and MSM) are useful in osteoarthritis to help cartilage replacement. If your dog started limping a few days ago, this sounds more like an injury. You might try homeopathic Arnica, but it would be best to first get a diagnosis from a vet. Arthritic hip problems come on slowly while knee problems tend to develop suddenly, due to an injury. Another possibility is Lyme disease; if so, give homeopathic Ledum 1M three times a day for 3 days.
