Senior NY Shiba - sad

Lisha May 24, 2009 09:37 AM

Anyone near warwick or have any contacts. His story breaks my heart. I bet he would make a near perfect, grateful happy indoor dog in a matter of weeks.

He is the larger of the 2 Shiba Inus, the other named, Elmo, whose owner could no longer care for them. both have been outside dogs their entire lives, living apart but next to eachother in kennels. Fed from a feeder with only rain or snow for water, they are adjusting to the shelter. They may have once even been show dogs, but those days are long over. They are not housetrained and with insufficient information, we are unable to place them in a home with small children. Big Mac is 11 yrs. old. Will they ever know what it's like to be a family pet?

Lisha I agree... I'll bet he would make a great indoor dog. He is a good looking Shiba and would look terrific with a couple of pounds taken off.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

Oh, that is so sad! He looks like a fat elderly Brewster. Poor guy. I can't understand why anybody would get a dog if they are going to keep him/her outside. It's not like Shibas are the typical big guard dog breeds that people do that for. Why get a cute little fluff ball and keep him in your yard?

Just wanted to add that I don't think it's right to keep any breed outside. You just would think that when someone gets a 20 lb dog it would be for a house pet.
