Recurrent vestibular syndrome

culprit May 28, 2009 01:56 PM

My 16 year old dog has had 2 bouts with vestibulitis--first time cleared up within days on Baytril, but 2nd time it took longer, and though she no longer has the head tilt she seems to have balance problems. 2 vets have seen her, no one knows what's going on but they suspect it is neurological, maybe a brain tumor. My question is, is there anything herbal/homeopathic I can give her that would help? Her appetite is not good, but I am able to get her to eat enough to sustain her. She does get accupressure massage weekly.

thanks

This is often due to a stroke or an inner ear infection. Since it cleared up on Baytril. I suspect it was an inner ear infection. Keeping your dog on an immune stimulant such as echinacea/golden seal may be helpful, and just in case it is due to a stroke, I suggest you give Nattokinase daily.

Thank you! I will try those.
