I'm worried

Grhndad Jun 12, 2009 04:32 PM

Last Tuesday night on last outs, I noticed Niss Lexie limping. Didn't think much of it because she had just jumped down from the bed. Wednesday mornign when she got up and went out she was still limping on her right front leg. Took her to the vet He checked her out she showed no signs of pain and there was no swelling anywhere. He gave her a shot of Dex and Metacam. He told me to give her metacam once a day for the next 5 days with bed rest fro her. If no better then we'll do some x-rays. The past two days there was slight limping but this afternoon Lexie was napping on the couch, the other pups were scattered about napping. Janie and I were on the computer when Lexie screamed. Janie and I both jumped and Katie and Ghost jumped up and ran around to Lexie. Lexie looked surprised when we all came over to her and didn't appear to be in any distress. I checked her out and everything appears to be fine. She has gone out and walked around the house since without limping Can't help it but it worries me.

Harry,
I hope that Lexie is feeling better and that she no longer has a limp. I know exactly how scary that is.. Daktoa started yelping in the middle of the night and am just hoping that it is nothing more than a pulled muscle from playing too hard in the yard with his beloved basketball.

I hope Lexie is ok!!!
Rexie (my cairn terrier) did this to me a few weeks ago... limping on a front leg.. and I couldn't find anything. I crated him... gave him some Metacam that I had here and decided to just keep an eye on him (it was sunday of course.. if he was still limping on Monday,we'd go to the vet) He had a slight limp Sunday eve... Monday he was back to normal. so hopefully Lexie just pulled something.
Please keep us posted on how she's doing.

Fingers crossed the limp is 'something and nothing' and that she is soon perfectly fit again.

Prayers that it's no big thing, just a muscle cramp or something like that.

I hope it's nothing and that the rest and Metacam do the trick. I'm always amazed at the power of those NSaids for the hounds. I keep a supply of Deramax here and will routinely give them one at bedtime after a very active day---fun runs at the kennel, running at the park, all of the Friday activities at Mountain Hounds......I think of it as a little helpful preventive. Like if Mike & I have done a lot of yard work etc we'll take an ibuprofen before bed. Same thing.

Good thoughts coming out your way !!!
