White Spots on Cuban Tree Frog

mkh Oct 10, 2003 07:22 PM

Hi. I need some help. I went to the pet store today to pick up some food and other needed things for my pets and there was this cuban tree frog that I thought was dead. His sides were sunken in and he wasn't moving. I got one of the employees there to take him out and it turned out he was alive! Yea! So I brought him home (I hate pet stores). I decided I would do my best to save the little guy and the employee told me he was just not eating because he was stressed. I brought him home and gave him a cricket and he ate it right up. He is also looking alot better in a humid tank with a bowl of water. But then I noticed white spots on his back. They aren't furry or raised and I'm pretty sure it's a fungus. I can't get him to the vet until Monday so I was hoping somebody would know what I can use on it to try to clear it up. I have tetracycline and malacite green but I don't know if it's safe for these guys. Please help!!!

Don't buy sick animals from petstores because they're just going to use that money and buy two more to keep in the same conditions.

Anyway, put Neosporin (the one without any kind of pain killers or releivers--that can kill the frog) on the white marks. I've never seen a Cuban with white blothces or spots like other species have... only tans, browns, greens, greys, etc.

Take it to the vet and see what they tell you to do and follow that. Good luck.
