Shiba Tales....

Shboom Jun 25, 2009 09:23 PM

So I'm going through my back log of Dog Fancy magazines and I came across the book Shiba Tales that we put together a couple of years ago. It was really neat reading through the stories again but also made me wonder where all of those great members had gotten of to.

Me, too, Bob. I sure wish they would all "report in"!

Things are good here. Murphy had a good experience boarding, earlier this month and is continuing to enjoy is weekly day at day camp. Best of all, he seems to be dealing wonderfully with thunderstorms this summer. We're hoping he will do well with fireworks too.

I still don't really like thunder, but I'm pretty sure it won't hurt me.

We still have a great "core" group here... just makes me wonder about all of those old familar names and whether they even still have their Shibas.

It's going pretty well here also. We're kinda having our first hot spell and the last remnants of the big shed have finally ceased. I did have to start Toshi on the antihistimine this week because of her allergies.

BTW... I always enjoy your captions at the bottom of your posts!

Murphy always wants to get his two cents worth in.......the last word, so to speak.

Well, of course! Otherwise how will the other kids know what my opinion is?????

Pst. Our gang is all still around. We're getting close to finding a house in Ithaca finally. If all works out, I hope to have a fence for Shiba and Hoshi before winter. Hoshi has been very lazy this summer because of all the rain, and Shiba has been keeping busy guarding our apartment of a pair of groundhogs.

finally have a little breathing time at work so I'm enjoying reading some of the posts I've missed. Hope all is well with everyone.

Good to hear from you, Meg! And how very lovely it will be to have a house and a fenced yard! For now, ground hogs sound like an interesting diversion!

Mom, what's a ground hog? Have I ever seen one?

Hey Meg! Good you seeing you and your gang again! Hope you do find that house and fence before winter... I'm sure the doggies would appreciate it as well. Stop by when you can!

Artemis and I are still here. . . . I was thinking the other day that someone needs to get a puppy--that livens things up, and we all get to see the pictures and hear the stories.

Artemis is her sweet self. She's shedding, shedding (really makes me rethink my lip gloss habit when I give her kisses). And she's looking older (getting a lot of white in her face).

Shboom Jun 27, 2009 09:08 PM

Yeah.... I'm seeing a lot more white in the face with my three. I'll have to put up some newer photos.

I have wondered the same thing. Joanne and I have become a bunch of lurkers from time to time. For some reason, it seems we dont have the time like we used to.

All 3 are doing great. We are real glad that shedding season is over for this round. Different colored Shibas means a rainbow of fur flying around the house. These are recent pictures of them.

Dave... nice picts of your three. Just wondering in the middle photo... is that a pile of Kiko fur in the background?

As for my three getting older as I said in the other post... it made me smile to see the pict on the back of Shiba Tales of Nikki with Beni.

I know what you mean Bob, I love that picture of Beni and Niki. I don't remember, did I send you those pictures?

That is a pile of Kiko fur in the background. We are helping the birds make plush nests around here lol

Dave I'm pretty sure you did but I'll ckeck through my photo files and let you know for sure.

With Shiba fur as a foundation those bird nests will have plenty of insulation! lol

Hello All,

I am now the proud owner of Shiba Tales!!!!!
I will be sharing my book and the stories it holds with everyone
I know. Since everyone is so smitten with Beni and Kari (written
with the most modesty I could come up with), I know they will be
equally enthralled with my magnificent new book.

Thank you, David for keeping the LuLu account alive!

I hope everyone is enjoying each day with their beloved
Shibas and others....and.... I look forward to reading about
any new adventures that come your way.

Patty

Patty, I'm happy that you got a copy of Shiba Tales. Some truly awesome stories are in there!

That book was written before there was a me, I think.

Kaia is still absolutely adorable! Kiko and Kona are beautiful and handsome, but Kaia is just soooooooo adorable!

Mom, could let my hair grow out like Kaia's?

Nice to see recent pictures of your three! Kiko looks like she went through a major shed. We're still not quite done with the shedding here.

kona63 Jun 27, 2009 06:11 PM

The one with Kiko in attack mode she is going after Kona. Poor Kona somedays he just can't win. She stalking him, like a lioness on the hunt.

Hi All,
I would love to read Shiba Tales! Can anyone tell me how I can read the stories that were written by you about your wonderful shibas? Now that summer is here I'm in the mood for some good reading....Thanks in advance (I hope)....
Patty

P.S. Kari still has her tick disease - after 2 doses of meds it has waned a bit, but not all the way. Also, we are growing jalepeno and habenero peppers - I've seen Beni and Kari eating the leaves and shushed them away. They both have diarreah(not sure of the spelling)...is there a correlation that any of you know of?

Patty

Shboom Jun 28, 2009 10:31 PM

Patty I'm not so sure the Shiba Tales is available anymore. It was a book that we did a couple of years ago.

Hope Kari's tick disease continues to improve. As for the diarrhea I would guess that maybe the leaves of the plants might cause it... maybe you could put a small fence around the area.

Chelle Jul 02, 2009 10:39 AM

I don't recall the exact tick disease your pup has, but I'd probably titer for the antibodies and see how much is left in the system before medicating again. A low titer just means your dog is basically immune from th disease (like a vaccination). Easer on the stomach and immune system than going through another round of treatment.

Taiko is still lymes positive (snap test), but his titer continues to be low after 5 years. He's never been symptomatic.

It's been a while since I thought about that book.

Not posting often- just not much going on. Took pooches out roller blading last night. That was good for them, my body hurts today.

Taiko and I are showing in agility this weekend. UKC rally next weekend. Taking a few weeks off and then APDT rally 2 weekends in a row.

Glad everyone here is doing well. I think Ma is right- we need to get a puppy around here. Those really do liven the place up.
