A bittersweet day

Nancy Jul 13, 2009 08:47 PM

Tomorrow, July 14 marks the one year aniversary of 2 important, life alterning events. I feel in my heart that they happened on the same day for a reason. July 14 is the day my baby boy Jakob earned his wings and went to the bridge in Heaven. One of my younger Angels. That same day, Bedda, a little mutt girl, was rescued from a kill shelter and brought to the no-kill shelter where I spend so much time. But I didn't notice this super shy little girl for many months as I was deeply mourning the loss of my golden boy. When I was finally ready, Greg pointd out this baby girl to me. I knew she fit in, we picked out a name for her Brooke (with a "K" like all our fmily members) and were going to "foster" her for a few days. It was decided by the HSCA that I would sign the papers on Saturday, January 25, tthat happened to be the same date I adopted Jakey 7 years before. I know that as Jake was leaving he made sure this little girl arrived for me for when I was ready, then he thought he should give her to me the day he joined our family. Although I will miss you forever my blondie, I thank you for Brooke. She is helping me heal.
