For those of you who have been following the *saga* of Dakota since we brought him home 5 years ago at the tender age (although if memory serves me, there was nothing tender about the little rascal except that *look* in his eyes. Not the look that he had when he was looking for something to get into, but the look that he had AFTER getting caught) of 9 weeks. Anyway, you know that if we are in the yard, Dakota wants to be in the yard. If Butch is working outside (using tools) Dakota is right there by his side. Well, today was no different. Butch and I were putting up the ceiling on the porch and in between times that Butch needed me, I was in the flowers pulling weeds. All of a sudden I heard Butch scream "Get the #*@% out of here", but, of course he was hollering at Dakota who only understood the #*@% word. As soon as those words were out of Butch's mouth I heard a simultaneous crash and yelp. One of the (as Dakota would call it.. a *too bi for*) that was holding up the 4 X 8 sheet of lumber fell and hit Dakota on the neck between the back of his head and his shoulder blades. I called GRama Roo and settled down to see just how much damage was done since it was already starting to swell by the shoulder blades. He was NOT happy with the ice pack I was trying to put on him (a soft and not real cold ice pack "teddy bear" that is made for kids) and kept jerking his head away. Anyway, with some ice and some healing touch, Butch's helper is going to be fine. Maybe a bit sore and stiff tomorrow, but maybe not even that ~ which is why the immediate call to Helen.
Dakota is now on the couch with his Dad after making sure that there were no "too bi fors" anywhere near.
