I have no clue how you do it!!!! It's insane!
Due to unfortunate circumstances, a friend of mine and her newly adopted Greyhound are living with us for an undetermined amount of time. This happened incredibly sudden and my two dogs had a 20 minute introduction on neutral territory before being thrown into living with this new dog.
I'm happy to report for the most part, all is going well and we've had no major incidents. I'm incredibly proud of Kita for not tearing the throat out on this interloper upon entry into our house. Taiko's been the one that has a more difficult time adjusting. He doesn't share me very well. When I'm not there, things are fine. When he guards me, I have to leave. It's working, but he doesn't like it. The 14 month old straight off the racetrack Greyhound (Bella) has incredibly good dog/dog skills and is not territorial in the slightest and Taiko enjoys playing the chase game with her quite a bit- he enjoys being chased but isn't used to being caught. Bella can catch him in 3 strides compared to his 8. He corners better though and is learning to adapt. Kita just waits and ambushes both when she can. She's no match for either of their speed and she knows it.
At some point I'll take video of them playing. Obviously things have been a bit nuts adjusting to new schedules and such so as terrible as I am typically about pictures, I'm even worse now.
Also, I'm not used to a dog that can rest a head on my dinner table and has absolutely no idea of how to live in a house. She's starting classes this week and we've been working on the basics already ('leave it' and 'back up' being the most pressing at the moment). Still, if I ever thought 3 dogs was a good idea. I know now, for me, and for my life right now, 2 dogs is plenty. You guys who have 3, I salute you!
