Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck

NikkosOkasan Jul 31, 2009 03:55 PM

Ugh..

sending this info to everyone I know more as an fyi

I don’t use this brand.. but a friend of mine does

My friend recently purchased Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck
formula and when they opened the bag of this dry kibble, there was
a strange white dust type on the kibble. They thought it strange
and did not feed it to their dogs. With in two days, the bag was
filled with worms.

She has sent an email to Natural Balance and has yet to hear from
them.

Just something to look out for.

It was good your friend was on top of this... many people wouldn't have been. It serves as a warning though to all of us that this type of problem can be extremely prevelant giving the nature of commercial food products no matter what the name on the bag says.

I guess what i found to be surprising is that i live in Arizona and typically worms are not a problem here.. ants? yes.. scorpions? yes... tarantulas? yes.. snakes? yes.. but worms??? not really.. don't they need moisture??

i'm hoping it was just a fluke.

by the way.. i started Yoshi on Orijen no grain puppy formula last night.. oh my god does he love it!

That's my kibble of choice right now. Great stuff.

As for the worms- yes they do need moisture to thrive. Most kibbles are 10% moisture at least so there's more there than you'd think.

Might not have been the dog food company that was a problem- could have been storage at the wearhouse or dog food store.

Lesson- LOOK at food before feeding it. If it looks odd, dont' give it to your pets. Glad your friend already knew this.
