Dog's eyes are swelling shut

wBrynn Aug 04, 2009 01:27 PM

My dogs eye was swollen shut last night, so I put some homeopathic eye drops in it last night and it immediately opened. When he woke up this morning it was still okay, and then a little while later it was swollen again. I gave him more eye drops and it cleared up for a few minutes, and then closed again. I just checked on him and now both eyes are swollen.

He currently has a yeast infection in his ears and armpits. I have been treating it with St. John's Wort oil, which is working great.

Can he get yeast in his eyes? Or is it likely he is allergic to the St John's Wort? (I have not used it today).

His second eye is looking much better right now.

It is his lower eye lids that are swelling.

I doubt that his eyes ate shutting due to a yeast infection; more likely that he is reacting to the St. Johns Wart oil, if he got some in his eye. But even that is not certain. The fact the he has a yeast infection means that all is not right, so he should be thoroughly examined, including his diet.
