Dog eats insects. Is he sick?

ZeusyGoosey Aug 06, 2009 03:37 PM

I found a dead spider on the floor and my dog sniffed it and licked it about to eat it. He does that to flies too. Even when he's outside he'll try to catch them in his mouth.

Is he deficent on some vitamins or does he just like to eat bugs?

It sounds pretty gross. Can you maybe tell me why he's doing that???

Thanks in advance.

Many dogs exhibit a natural tendency to chase anything that moves, whether it is a bug, a rabbit, a bicyclist, or a truck. As to the spider on the floor, I suspect he was just curious about it or wanted to see if it would move . Your dog may eat the flies he catches because because they are small and already in his mouth, which he can't do with the motorcycle.
