it's off!! it's off!!

yesterday I got my cast off. My hand looks like an alien's. thin forearm going to a thicker and elongated hand.

it is working pretty well except getting it to turn over. I get to play with playdoh as physical therapy. doctor wants me to try myself for two weeks before doing anything professional. I also can't drive for at least two more weeks because I drive a stick.

I have a brace that I have to wear for four more weeks. It isn't hot pink.

The nurse was the regular one I've had so she was talking to me and said she read my chart and the doctor was worried that it wouldn't heal right. Thank you Lord!

I'm so glad you are free! Great that it healed well, but sorry your brace isn't pink, ha!! Have fun with the playdough and may you be all better very soon!

Oh Dee, I'm so glad to hear that you were able to take the cast off. I'm sure it will take a little time and some therapy to get it back to normal. I hope the brace is a little less restrictive than the cast. Hang in there....it will get better.

Most everything works... I am even typing with it... except bending in one direction. I, as yet, cannot put it flat on the table palm up. The thumb area stays in the air.

I exercise it in a bucket of warm water and will push on the side, you know, until it hurts. The doctor is right, I am a determined person.

I wake up with it stiff but had the brace off most of the day and it loosened up. Wish I could leave the brace off but he said it was necessary, especially if I am going to be doing something so as not to injure it.

Hey, know what the best therapy is? Petting Ayla!!

That is the right kind of therapy and a sure cure. May take time but you will get there.

It sounds like you're making great progress, Dee. Keep up the good work but don't overdue it. I'm sure Ayla will just love all the extra petting.
