persistant ear pain

lianalet Aug 31, 2009 05:39 AM

My Shepard has had ear problems for most of his life. I've been to the vet many times for this problem, they have given me medicine for bacterial and yeast infections as well as antibiotics.

The problem always comes back. He has black tar stuff in his right ear only, the other ear is pristine. How do I clean his ears? He needs to be knocked out because it is really bothering him. I cant afford a vet right now. Is there a holistic solution? How did dog owners accomplish this in the olden days?

My terrier gets something like you are describing also. It seems to be a chronic thing that comes around about every month to six weeks. I wash and medicate her ears and it helps for a time. I don't think they are sure what causes it.

Try posting on the Holistic Vet board and see if Dr. Tobin has some help to offer.

I would clean his ears carefully and I would put mine^, on a one a day for 2 weeks on penicillin regimen.I get my penicillin from the local feednseed on da cheap and it keeps Rock Kobi healthy and happy!
