Finally.....

Skaket Sep 03, 2009 06:57 PM

After what seemed like two weeks of nothing but rain, we managed to put three nice days together and I decided to clean out a jungle area next to my patio. The gentleman who mows my lawn had cleaned it out some this spring but with all the rain, it had filled in again. I planted loads of Pachysandra in the area several years ago and that helped keep it looking nice but the rain won out and everything under the sun started to grown there. LOL Katie, of course, had to help me but when I went to take the picture, she decided to leave the area. LOL Hope all you other folks have been blessed with better weather.

We have been blessed with spectacular weather all week. High's in the 70's and nights in the 50's, great sleeping with windows open.

I was, from what you have mentioned about your wet weather, of sending you the plans to build an Ark. LOL If you get lots more rain I just might.

Hey, maybe some of your weather is coming my way, Cheryl. I sure hope so. I'm sure some good will come from all this rainy weather but right now it's getting old real fast. I will say that the lawns all look gorgeous and I'm sure those that do landscaping aren't too upset with the rain. They've had lots of business. The golf course up the street from me probably isn't thrilled with it. I'm sure that they've lost lots of business these past several weeks. I keep telling my friend, Carmella that we don't have to shovel rain. I sure hope that all this rain isn't an indication of how much snow we're going to get this winter. We will have to shovel that. LOL

Warn me when you're gonna do that Mary Lou. You know I freak out when I see or hear *s-n-o-w in the summer.
Man do I want to move before winter. I'll even settle for south Jersey. Weather is a little nicer there.

I hear what you're saying about the snow, Dee. It's funny how our opinions change. When I was teaching, I use to love it when I heard a big storm was coming our way....a day off. LOL Now. I cringe when I hear a prediction like tha. What was worst though was having a prediction like that, staying up late thinking you would be able to sleep in the next morning and then waking up to find an inch of snow on the ground. LOL

Cheryl.

Yep it has been beautiful with our temps. I really didn't mind the one night when it got down to 48.

It's been a crazy summer. If we are to believe the Old Farmer's Almanac we are going to have a bad winter here in the midwest.

Just make sure that you keep your bad storms in the midwest, Gary and especially don't spend them EAST!

Between the weather and my broken wrist, I wasn't able to weed my flower garden and these thin, tall things settled in. They were easy to pull out but alot of it. Have taken about 4 wheelbarrows full out already and there is still maybe three more still to go.

It's funny, I was wearing gloves when I broke my wrist so I told the nurse to cut it off. I laughed that my husband brought the left glove home and threw it out. Now I wish I kept it because I'm pulling lefty and hit rasberry thorns every now and then.

We went in the pool only twice this year. Once when it was opened to clean it and last week just because. It was cold!

How funny that Katie walked away! HA.

You really MUST begin to share your rain with us! Lake Levels in S. Texas are way down, rationing etc.

Glad you got some nice days!

Sally, I'll be more than happy to send any of our future rain to Texas. We certainly don't need it here in Connecticut.

Wish it were that easy, ha. My mother and father are being rationed with water. They have to get up at 6am to water and then after 10 pm or something, what a pain. We are not rationed here so far.

Lake Travis in the hill country, is getting very low. Even a VERY OLD stone house has been uncovered since the water is low.

Bad for cattle, wildlife etc.

We have a chance of rain tomorrow.

Oh wow, Sally I didn't realize that your water situation was that bad. I pray that you folks get some relief soon. We had a similar situation several years ago and they rationed our water as well.

Yes, the hill country, central and south Tx. haven't had more than a few inches of rain in a year. Looks like we may get some tomorrow and next weekend. It will take a lot to fill the lakes.
