Troubling Dog: Please Help

colorfulcritters Sep 17, 2009 08:29 AM

Blacky bit me, snorts and snarls, and is overly protective of one of my other dogs, Sunny. Sometimes he scares me when I get near Sunny. He won't leave my other dog alone either, licks his private parts, growls when I come near, and tries, at times, to mount Sunny.

Blacky, or Frank, is a street dog I took in three months ago. He's also a male. I don't understand this bizarre beaviour. He's extremely attached to my other male dog. Yet Sunny can hold his own ground, so I'm not worried about fighting. But I'm trying to hold on to Frankie, and don't know what to do, since he may bite me again and Sunny's getting sick of him.

He inflicted a pretty good wound on me too and is quite. . . something. Not aggressive or mean. . .just angry, or jealous. He bit me when I took him by the collar to give him a bath.

He has good qualities, however, and was owned by someone that trained him. I need to get a grip on this though, if he's to become part of the family. Please help.

What you need to do is work with a behavior specialist who can meet directly with you and the dog. This really needs to be done by an expert in person. That will allow the specialist to evaluate the behavior, and help you decide what is best to do. Don't delay. This sounds like a dangerous situation.
