A Gotcha Day (long)

Grhndad Sep 21, 2009 02:34 PM

Now it's argueably as to whether the gotcha day is today or tomorrow. What is known is that it culminated a week of activity that brought two girls to their forever home. I hate it that there is only a couple of folks that made this all happen still posting here and many that followed along also no longer post here.

It really started on Labor Day weekend when both Jilli and I got word that we each had a girl ready to come home. Hours of emails, chat rooms and phone calls finally worked out the plan to get them home. On Saturday the 14th of September, Annamarie and Ellen picked up my Pansy from her trainer at Seabrook and started her home. SHe spend the night with Ellen, then down to Leah for the night by way of Nancy B and Nancy H. Then to Karen K by way of Donnamarie for the following night. The next day Karen and Mickey delivered her over to Nittney Grehounds and to Bob & Patty Tonkin, where she spent the night. Then over to Lynne in Dearborn, MI for the night. There Jilli drove over on Thursday with her daughter, Lindsey, picked up Miss P and took her home with her. There she spent 3 days while waiting on Janie and I to arrive to get her.

On that Thursday, I left home early in the AM, drove over to Corpus Christy, TX and at 5:00 PM picked up Jilli's girl Cricket from the Tracks adoption Kennel. We spent the night and left early the next morning and drove home. We spent the night and on Saturday the 21st Janie and I drove Cricket up to Jilli's.

That evening Cricket met her new Mom and Dad, Skin sis and her sibling, Lia. Miss Pansy of course met her new Mom and Dad. The following morning we drove home and Pansy was reunited with her Mom, Nancy.

It was a long but very satisfying trip. both greys traveling somewhere around 4000 miles and me somewhere around 3060 over the 4 days. Two weeks later we were all reunited at Dewey.

Kinda hard to write this but Jilli, Lia and Cricket are no longer with us. Neither are Leah and Momma Nancy. I miss then all.

Miss P, well she is the same "Dora the Explorer" that she was those 7 yrs ago. She is a lot whiter around the muzzle and legs, almost as white faced as her Mom. But still the spirit of the three yr old she was back then.

She's my lovebug and the biggest dad's girl. She has slowed down come due to her CHF so she doesn't run as much as she did. Thes a lot of naps at M&G's but loves the little skin kids.

Please joing us in wishing our sweet brindle girl a very Happy 7th Gotcha Day!!!!!!

Dogs and cats come into our lives, and too quickly go leaving pawprints on our hearts, and we will never be quite the same again.
