How to keep semi-moist food moist?

PatsCats Sep 25, 2009 08:42 AM

I buy the nearly 20 lb bag of dry/semi-moist dog food (Kibbles 'n Bits), and roll the top down to the level of the food in the bag when I close it. My Nakai only eats 2 rounded cups of food a day, and by the time he gets about 2/3 of the way down in the bag, the food is noticeably more dry than it was when I first opened the bag.

How can I keep the moist bits more moist? I have tried putting the entire bag of food in one of those extra large zip-close bags, but that doesn't really help. Any other suggestions?

Probably your best bet would be to buy an extra large air tight food container made by someone like Rubbermaid or Lock n Lock. The zip type bags don't work very well at keeping air out even for everyday use.

I agree some air tight food container would probably work best.

So should I put the bag in the airtight container and roll the top of the bag down, or dump the food out of the bag directly into the container?

Thanx!

I think that if the container were large enough to accomodate the bag for extra protection you could roll it down but it might make it difficult to get the food out.
