Would you microchip your dog?

Would you guys ever get your dog microchipped to ID them? This article on the Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's soul website says that 3,567,715 pets in the US have been chipped -- that is a lot!! What do you think?

I have three Shiba Inus and they have all been chipped. The old way or in some cases the same way was to tattoo the dog with either a partial SS number or your phone number. One of my dogs has two chips and they are both registered with Home Again. She is a rescue and I had her chipped not realizing her previous also had her chipped. We found out when my vet tested her scanner after being chipped and a different number came up. And... there is the problem with a chip. If the vet doesn't scan if a dog is found or brought in for whatever reason it sort of defeats the purpose. While I never thought to have her checked first... my vet should have...
